Logan Square, Chicago has been quickly changing over the past few years. The "up and coming" neighborhood has rapidly gentrified. It is no longer coming, it has come. The hispanic residents have been forced to move out due to high rent increases. Even the "hipsters" are moving on now because of the continued rent increases and influx of "yuppies". The amount of high rises that are scattered throughout Logan Square, that did not exist 4 years ago, is baffling. Small businesses are closing and it seems just about every week a new restaurant opens up. Discount MegaMall was a building that held a flea market inside and was this unique and somewhat bizarre, but loved place between the stretch of Milwaukee Ave and the blue line tracks. However, large corporations like Target are replacing it. The death of Discount MegaMall is symbolic of the completely changed Logan Square. These photographs were taken just after MegaMall closed it's doors in 2016. The city allowed graffiti artists to use the walls of the building as their canvas before it got demolished.
